Woman pleads guilty to filing fraudulant insurance claim
CHARLESTON - A Wayne County woman, Pamela Kay Copley, 37, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of filing a fraudulent insurance claim, according to a release from West Virginia Insurance Commissioner Jane L. Cline.
Copley had been arrested in February and charged on two felony counts of filing a fraudulent claim with an insurance company, the release said. The charges stem from two incidents involving a hit and run on Copley's 2000 Chevrolet truck in June 2005 and a stolen vehicle claim for the truck in November 2005, the release said.
Copley's one-year sentence was suspended and she was given three years probation, a fine of $100 plus all court costs and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service, according to the release.
