First responders to be honored in song for 9/11
The Thundertones perform during the Cincinnati Reds Caravan visit to the Huntington Mall in the MacyÕs Dome on January 25. The ThunderTones Chorus, in cooperation with the Greater Huntington Park and Recreation District, will present a community celebration to recognize and honor the heroism and contributions of the local first responders.
The event "Let Freedom Sing" begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Ritter Park Amphitheatre. The opening ceremonies will include a tribute to the sacrifices made by local first responders.
The musical portion of the event will feature patriotic, inspirational and good old-fashioned American music presented by the ThunderTones and River Magic choruses from Huntington, Treblemakers from Gallipolis, Ohio, Singing Kernels from Ashland and several more quartets.
There is no charge for admission, and residents of the Huntington Tri-State area are encouraged to attend and show their support and appreciation for the police, fire and EMS personnel. First responder vehicles and information booths will be in the amphitheatre parking lot beginning at 6 p.m. Refreshments may be purchased in the amphitheatre, and picnic baskets and lawn chairs are welcome.

New Life Church is sponsoring the 3rd annual Operation: We CARE to thank area first responders in remembrance of Sept. 11, 2001.
Members are asking local groups, churches, organizations and families to contribute by submitting baked goods, thank you cards and other items to be delivered the afternoon of Sept. 11.
