2008 Dirt Derby brings cyclists to Barboursville park
BARBOURSVILLE -- Eighty-three Mountain bikers descended on Barboursville Park Sunday for the 16th and last race of the West Virginia Mountain Bike Association's 2008 Series Championship, the Dirt Derby.
Races included a 21-mile expert race, a 15.5-mile sport race and an 8-mile beginner race.
The association gives out more than $10,000 in cash and prizes to winners who have ridden in mountain bike races since the series began in March at Pipestem State Resort Park.
Cyclists have raced throughout the state and into parts of Ohio and Virginia. The championship series has also been in Spencer, Davis, Oak Hill, Philippi and Bruceton Mill, W.Va.
Barboursville Park has nearly 20 miles of trails on 750 acres.
