HUNTINGTON -- Two people were added to the county's regular payroll at the most recent Cabell County Commission meeting.
Commissioners Bob Bailey and Nancy Cartmill voted to approve hiring Gregory A. Slone and Patrick Watkins.
Slone's hiring made him the county's newest deputy sheriff. The former Marshall University police officer will have an annual salary of $28,260.72. He fills a vacancy on the department.
Watkins will be a full-time telecommunicator, also known as an emergency dispatcher, for Cabell County 911. The vote moved Watkins from a temporary position with the agency to a regular role. He will earn $21,600 annually.
Both positions were filled at Wednesday's regular County Commission meeting.
Commissioner Scott Bias did not attend.
