Police blotter: Bottle of brandy, revolver stolen from law office
Reports from the Huntington Police Department provided the following information:
The Hatcher Law Offices, 636 5th Ave., reported a burglary on Wednesday. The alarm at the office went off at 12:13 a.m. Wednesday. When officers arrived, they found the back door had been forced open. A witness told police a white man, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, 180 pounds with dark hair and wearing a blue ball cap, ran out the back door carrying what appeared to be two bottles. The witness said the suspect ran across 5th Avenue.
The owner reported that a bottle of brandy and a five-shot revolver were stolen, and the suspect attempted to take a wall-mounted plasma television. Desk drawers also had been searched.
BURGLARY: Two men reported a burglary in the 400 block of 11th Avenue West between 7 and 9 p.m. Saturday. The first man stated someone entered through an unlocked window and stole $710 worth of saws belonging to the second man, who was working at the residence.
BREAKING AND ENTERING: A woman reported that her vehicle's rear driver's side window was broken and a cordless saw was stolen in the 4400 block of Altizer Avenue. The value of the saw was $317, and the damage was estimated at $150.
LARCENY: A man reported that a copper gutter was stolen from the east side of his residence in the 100 block of North Boulevard West about 11 p.m. Sunday. The value of the copper gutter was $250.
BREAKING AND ENTERING: A woman reported that she left the rear driver's side door unlocked while her vehicle was parked in the 300 block of 9th Avenue West. The theft, she reported, took place between 4 and 9 a.m. Sunday. There was no damage to the vehicle, but $250 worth of CDs, a $200 pair of eyeglasses and a purse with a bank card and Social Security card were taken.
LARCENY: The owner of a business in the 1600 block of 8th Avenue reported that parts of an air conditioning unit were stolen. The damage and replacement costs are estimated at $3,000.
LARCENY: A woman reported that she allowed a relative to stay at her residence in the 3700 block of 3rd Avenue while she was gone. When she returned Monday, she discovered a table and chair set, a microwave, two area rugs and clothes were missing. The woman reported finding the items on Tuesday at an antique store. An employee of the shop told her that a man had brought the items in earlier in the day.
HIT AND RUN: A woman reported that her ex-boyfriend repeatedly drove his van into her car while it was parked at a business in the 1500 block of 6th Avenue on Monday evening.
BREAKING AND ENTERING: A man stated that $1,700 worth of tools were stolen from his outbuilding in the 4700 block of Piedmont Road sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning. The man reported that a lock on the gate to his residence as well as the lock to the outbuilding had been cut.
