Marshall hosts annual engineering conference
HUNTINGTON -- Marshall University was a hub of activity Thursday when engineers from throughout the country collected at the campus for the 6th annual Winter Technical Conference, hosted by Marshall's joint chapter of the Society of American Engineers and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Topics presented at the Marshall conference included the structural design of the new Ford class aircraft carriers, design of a flood control project in Logan, W.Va., stabilization of a lock and dam structure in Pennsylvania (currently in design), and the unique design of the recently replaced Dick Henderson Bridge in St. Albans, W.Va.
The conference provides an economical and convenient avenue for professional engineers to get five of the 15 annually required Professional Development Hours in one day.
