Police Blotter: Elderly man attacked, robbed in West Huntington

Reports from the Huntington Police Department provided the following information:

An elderly Huntington man was robbed in the 800 block of Madison Avenue about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. He reported an unknown man with a white hood over his head approached him from behind and struck him on the back of the head. After a brief struggle, the man got away with a wallet, $300 and a cell phone.

WANTON ENDANGERMENT: Suspects fired a handgun at a vehicle near Bridge and Main streets about 3:15 a.m. Thursday, striking the vehicle's front hood, driver's door and truck bed.

NIGHTTIME BURGLARY: Brian Darell Ruffin, 25, of Huntington was incarcerated at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. He was arrested in the 500 block of 6th Street and charged with felony nighttime burglary, having three executed warrants, and misdemeanor domestic battery.

Authorities in Cabell County charged him with felony burglary and misdemeanor domestic battery, along with a prior felony warrant and two misdemeanors. Bond was denied pending arraignment.

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE WITH INTENT: Marvin Lamont Scott, 33, of Huntington was incarcerated at 12:05 a.m. Thursday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Bond was denied pending arraignment. He was arrested in the 1000 block of Washington Avenue after authorities observed him walking going to a motel room in the area. Authorities confiscated crack, electronic scales, a used crack pipe and more than $200.

BURGLARY: Electronics totaling an estimated $1,140 were stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Oakland Avenue between 3 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Wednesday. Missing items include two televisions, a DVD player, XBox 360, Nintendo Wii, and iPod dock.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Someone threw a rock through a church window in the 100 block of 26th Street on Oct. 11, causing an estimated $1,332 in damage.

LARCENY: Copper coils totaling an estimated $2,800 were stolen from the 1000 block of 7th Avenue between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Reports from the Cabell County Sheriff's Office provided the following information:

BURGLARY/BREAKING AND ENTERING: More than an estimated $5,800 in hardware was stolen from a storage unit in the 1700 block of Hash Ridge Road between Sunday and 8 a.m. Wednesday. Missing items include a jack hammer, electric trimmer, two finish nailers, and other tools.

ANIMAL COMPLAINTS: A Huntington woman reported that two dogs attacked her son while he was riding his bike near the 6800 block of Merritts Creek Road on Nov. 3.

Booking records from the Western Regional Jail provided the following information:

Nicole Gutierrez Hughes, 22, was incarcerated about 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Authorities in Cabell County charged her with felony accessory before the fact of a felony and bond revocation. Her bond was $10,000.

Lisa G. Fitzwater, 34, was incarcerated about 2:45 p.m. Thursday. Authorities in Cabell County charged her with felony third offense shoplifting. Her bond was $10,000.

Malcom Ray Meade, 21, was incarcerated about 2:45 p.m. Thursday. Authorities in Lincoln County charged him with felony grand larceny. Bond was set at $20,000.

Danae Evalie Cyrus, 36, was incarcerated about 4:10 p.m. Thursday. Authorities in Putnam County charged her with having a felony capias from Greenbrier County.
