Pharmacist sentenced to 6 months in prison
CHARLESTON -- A former pharmacist was sentenced to six months in prison Thursday for his pharmacy's involvement in a pill mill.
James P. Wooley of Louisa, Ky., must report to prison by January 4, 2013, to begin his sentence, which also includes two years of probation upon release and a $5,000 fine, according to records from the U.S. District Court.
Wooley previously pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy, fraud, forgery and other charges in connection with the allegations that he owned and operated drug stores at two locations near Kermit, W.Va., in Mingo County. An investigation revealed Wooley and other pharmacists under his direction dispensed controlled substances that did not have a doctor's approval. The offenses took place in 2006.
