Highlands museum hosts ornament workshop for kids
HUNTINGTON -- The Pottery Place and the Highlands Museum and Discovery Center in Ashland teamed up Saturday for an ornament workshop.
Each of the 25 people who attended were able to make three pottery ornaments, said Christine Arthur, the office manager at Highlands Museum.
The museum also will host Holidays at the Highlands from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29. Activities will include a gingerbread house display, stained glass display, holiday music, pictures with Santa, a silent auction and light refreshments. The cost is $25 for a family of four or $15 per person. Children 12 and under are $5.
In December, admission for everyone is $5. The calendar includes a cookie-making class from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, for $10. That day also will include photos with Santa from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and a performance by a local folk and ethnic dance troupe at 12:30 p.m.
The cookie-making class returns from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15. Each person will decorate six cookies with the help of students from Paul G. Blazer High School.
