Snow, rain in local forecast

HUNTINGTON -- Tri-State drivers should take it slow on Tuesday morning as forecasters are expecting snow showers to hit during the morning commute, according to the National Weather Service and Accuweather.

Snow showers are expected to begin around 6 a.m. and are expected to continue through noon on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

Up to an inch of snow accumulation is expected before the snow turns to rain in the afternoon. The high is expected to reach 41 Tuesday. More snow is expected overnight with a low of 20 and another tenth to a quarter of an inch of snow possible.

Around an inch of accumulation is expected throughout most of West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky, with another inch or so possible in the mountain counties.

Snow showers could continue through 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, with a high temperature that day of about 27 degrees. Wednesday could be blustery with wind gusts of up to 39 mph predicted. Wednesday night could cool to around 17.

The sun could return Thursday with a high near 33 and low around 18. The sun could continue on Friday with a high near 36 and a low of 21. There is another chance of snow on Saturday, with a high near 37 and a low of 22.
