Man sentenced to nearly six years on firearm, drug crimes
HUNTINGTON -- A Huntington man stood in federal court Monday and received a five-year, 10-month prison sentence.
Roderick Devine McNeal, 26, had pleaded guilty in November 2009 to being a felon in possession of a firearm and possessing oxycodone with an intent to distribute. U.S. District Judge Robert C. Chambers accepted the plea and ordered the punishment.
McNeal had signed a stipulation of facts admitting to multiple criminal acts between March 2009 and July 2009. He admitting to trafficking oxycodone, hydrocodone, cocaine and crack cocaine in Huntington and the surrounding area.
A March 18, 2009, search of his residence found a .40 caliber pistol, $2,178 cash and quantities of marijuana and cocaine, the stipulation states. He further admits to later distributing crack cocaine and oxycodone to police informants.
McNeal also admitted within the stipulation to possessing 26 oxycodone pills, $5,791 cash and a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol while at a downtown restaurant in May 2009, according to the stipulation.
McNeal's criminal record includes a felony conviction from Utah in November 2006, the stipulation states.
The Huntington Police Department, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the local investigation.
The case was brought as part of Huntington's participation in the nation's Weed and Seed initiative.
