Marijuana found at house fire

February 12, 2010 @ 12:00 AM

HUNTINGTON -- Firefighters and police found more than smoke and flames at a house fire early Thursday along Highlawn Avenue.

The authorities found four marijuana plants with a combined value of $4,000, according to an incident report filed at the Huntington Police Department.

Cabell County 911 received word of the fire at 12:46 a.m. Dispatchers and police indicate the fire started in the 2700 block of Highlawn Avenue and then spread next door.

The rear portion of both houses received damage, according to the police report. The report's narrative does not indicate from which house the marijuana was confiscated.

A dispatcher said one person was taken to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.

No arrest was reported.

Firefighters did not clear the scene until 5 a.m., nearly four hours later.
