Informational meetings to focus on helping vets

Sep. 01, 2013 @ 12:10 AM

CHARLESTON -- West Virginia Department of Veterans Assistance Cabinet Secretary Rick Thompson will host meetings across the state in September in an effort to gather thoughts, ideas and concerns from veterans.

The informal meetings will occur in five different regions of the state. At each location, veterans' organizations, individuals and military families are invited to participate and learn more about services offered by the department.

"In order for veterans to utilize our services, they must be made aware of what our department has to offer. Likewise, if we are to successfully serve the veterans of West Virginia, we must fully understand their most pressing needs," Thompson said in a prepared release.

An informational meeting has been scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at American Legion Post 77, located at 6024 U.S. 60 East, Barboursville. Other meetings are scheduled for Sept. 11 in Beckley, Sept. 18 in Clarksburg, Sept. 19 in Martinsburg and Sept. 26 in Moundsville.
