W.Va. man convicted in 2007 murder
FAIRMONT, W.Va. (AP) — A man accused of steering the triggerman to the victim of a Memorial Day 2007 shooting has been convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Assistant Marion County Prosecutor Krista Piersol says the jury returned the verdict against 24-year-old Donnell Lee around noon on Friday.
The jury recommended mercy, meaning the Martinsburg man could be eligible for parole consideration after 15 years. The sentencing date hasn’t been set.
Lee is one of four men charged in the death of Columbia, South Carolina, resident Derrick Osborne.
Fairmont police say Lee gave Osborne’s description to alleged shooter Lincoln Taylor of Huttonsville and showed him where the victim lived.
Taylor’s trial is pending. The other defendants have entered plea agreements.
Lee maintains his innocence.
