Banjo player performs as part of Civil War Days lecture series

HUNTINGTON -- Civil War Days continued in Guyandotte on Wednesday as banjoist Travis Kahle played Civil War tunes throughout the evening.

The event took place at the First Guyandotte Baptist Church, 219 Richmond St. This year is the 20th anniversary of Guyandotte Civil War Days, and festivities are scheduled throughout the week and weekend. Reenactments will take place Saturday and Sunday.

The Civil War Days lecture series takes place at 7 p.m. through Friday at the church. Events include:

Thursday, Nov. 5, Al Stone will portray General Robert E. Lee and John Belcher will portray General Albert G. Jenkins.

Friday, Nov. 6, Stan Clardy will perform a one-man Civil War play from North Carolina.

The Huntington Paranormal Group also will host historic Guyandotte walking tours from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Camps will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The public is invited to "Meet the Generals" behind the Keenan House at 3 p.m. Saturday. Battles are set for 1 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
