Area CEOS celebrates with weeklong events
Learn and Reach out with the Cabell County CEOS (Community Educational Outreach Service formerly Extension Homemakers) through the WVU Extension Service as they celebrate their special emphasis week Sunday, May 17, through Saturday, May 23, with CEOS members throughout the state of West Virginia. Several events will take place in Cabell County.
The Milton town welcome sign will display a special CEOS invitation.
During this week, there will be an informative window display in downtown Milton highlighting the County CEOS banner, pictures of the County Belles, history of the CEOS organization and other items of interest.
The James River CEOS club members will deliver tote bags they have filled with personal care items to the Huntington City Mission for distribution to those who need them. The club also will tour the facility to better understand the mission's program. These filled tote bags have been an ongoing project of Cabell County CEOS Clubs through the past years for the Huntington City Mission. The other three Cabell County CEOS Clubs are delivering personal care tote bags they have assembled during the rest of the year.
The following week on May 27 the third "Wonderful Wednesday" CEOS program will be held. Centered around candles and calcium with a "hands on" making session, an education emphasis and a luncheon, it is held at the 4-H Camp. This is open to all County CEOS members, friends and potential members. All are welcome.
Sponsored by West Virginia University Extension, CEOS carries out its mission of strengthening individuals and families through continuing education, community service and leadership development. CEOS can be organized around community interests, neighbors special interests or specific age groups.
Residents can join a CEOS already organized club or form a new club. For more information about the CEOS program or the May 27 event at the 4-H Camp, call Cabell County Extension office at 304-743-7131, and ask for Brenda Porter, Families and Health extension agent, or Pauline Tiller, secretary.
