Ceredo shows community spirit with 2nd tree lighting
CEREDO -- Officials and residents of the town of Ceredo gathered Saturday evening for the second annual lighting of the community Christmas tree.
The holiday scene is located at town square along U.S. 60 and includes the tree and several Christmas lawn ornaments that also are lit.
Those who attended light-up night said it's just another example of an already close town doing something else together.
"It's just great, the small town life," said Oscar Adkins, son of Ceredo mayor, Otis Adkins. "To me, it doesn't get any better than this."
Several residents sang Christmas carols, while Santa Claus handed out candy canes to anyone passing by with a smile.
The scene was made possible by numerous volunteers and members of the Beautification Committee, said Otis Adkins. He said everyone involved recognizes the importance in Ceredo celebrating the holidays.
"It's small but very attractive," he said. "Hopefully, we can do something the community can be proud of and enjoy."
The mayor and some members of the committee said they plan to add to it every year and hope more residents will come out and take pride the community event.
The lights will come on every day around dusk through Christmas.
