City to host Homeland Security conference
HUNTINGTON -- Emergency officials from 26 counties are invited to the state's Southwestern Regional Homeland Security Summit in Cabell County, according to information released earlier this month.
The event takes place Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 1 and 2, at the Pullman Plaza Hotel in Huntington. It follows a similar summit in October that gathered emergency officials from northern counties.
This week's summit will provide officials with an opportunity to interact with a variety of stakeholders at different levels in government. Topics will include critical Infrastructure, animal sheltering and special-needs sheltering, along with concerns regarding the Bluestone Dam, grants, credentialing, continuity of operations and government.
The Huntington summit will gather 26 counties from three of the state's Homeland Security regions. Those counties are Pleasants, Wood, Ritchie, Wirt, Jackson, Roane, Calhoun, Putnam, Kanawha, Clay, Mason, Cabell, Wayne, Lincoln, Mingo, Logan, Boone, Nicholas, Fayette, Greenbrier, Raleigh, Wyoming, Summers, Monroe, McDowell and Mercer.
