Boy Scout leads construction on Habitat storage building to earn Eagle Scout ranking
HUNTINGTON -- Jake Cogan, a member of Boy Scout Troop 115 in South Point, Ohio, is the latest area boy scout to lead the construction of a storage building during a Huntington Area Habitat For Humanity House build, according to a release from the organization.
Upon completion, the South Point High School junior hopes to earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
While most scout projects cease after the final nail is driven, this group of volunteers is committed to the mission of the affiliate and have vowed their continued support, the release said.
The storage buildings, the fourth built by local scouts, serves as a standing example of how Boy Scouts benefit the community and encourage other boys and their families to participate in scouting.
Funding for the construction of the storage building has been made possible through a contribution by the Bike and Build Organization.
The Bike and Build Organization is one comprised of college students who spend their summer cycling across various parts of the United States raising money and awareness for affordable housing issues.
