Two South Point women arrested on drug charges

ASHLAND -- Two South Point, Ohio, women were arrested Friday night on drug charges and transported to the Boyd County Detention Center, according to a news release from the Boyd County Sheriff's Department.

A confidential informant working with the department's Drug Task Force made an undercover buy of 10 oxycodone 30-milligram tablets from people in a vehicle on Dale Street in Ashland about 10 p.m. Friday, according to the release.

Deputies then conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on 13th Street (U.S. 60) in Ashland.

Penny McClary, 37, of County Road 2, South Point, and Holly M. Lewis, 29, of County Road 15, South Point, were arrested on drug charges, according to the release. Money and more pills were confiscated at the scene and during a strip search at the jail.

McClary was charged with trafficking a controlled substance in the first degree, trafficking within 1,000 feet of a school, promoting contraband into a jail and possession of a controlled substance in the first degree.

Lewis was charged with facilitation of trafficking a controlled substance in the first degree and facilitation of trafficking within 1,000 feet of a school.
