HUNTINGTON -- A federal grand jury has indicted a Huntington woman on marijuana, heroin and firearm possession charges.
The indictment was unsealed Monday, nearly one month after it was filed in U.S. District Court. It charges Ambria Virginia Ragland, 23, of Huntington.
Ragland is being held at the Boyd County Detention Center in Catlettsburg, Ky. Huntington police arrested her on a fugitive from justice charge Thursday, according to court documents.
The federal indictment charges Ragland with crimes that occurred in Jan. 26, 2006. The indictment alleges that Ragland possessed marijuana and heroin in Huntington with an intent to distribute the drugs. She was carrying a .22 magnum revolver during and in relation to the drug trafficking crime, according to the indictment.
If convicted of the firearm charge, it would add at least five years in prison to any punishment the defendant received on the drug crimes.
Ragland made her initial appearance Monday in federal court. Her arraignment and detention hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday.
