Retirement celebration held for bishop
A retirement celebration was held Saturday for Bishop Norman and Carolyn Mills at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena. Bishop Mills has been the pastor of New Beginning Apostolic Church, located at 1002 25th Street, for the past 19 years, and both he and Carolyn have been involved in the ministry for 44 years.
They are the parents of Rebecca Ware, Scott Mills and Pastor T.D. Mills and daughter-in-law, Christina. They have two granddaughters, Chelsea and Victoria and one great-granddaughter, Tala.
The Mills will be honored with a special 1 p.m. service at the church Sunday, Nov. 22. Mills said he wants everyone to know, "I am retiring as pastor, but not from preaching God's word."
