2 arrested in flea market shooting

Shooting
Mar. 17, 2012 @ 12:00 AM

MILTON — Authorities arrested two people and searched for a third suspect Friday in the robbery and shooting of a longtime vendor at the Milton Flea Market.

The incident happened about 8 a.m. Friday as Edward Perry, a coins and gold vendor, arrived to begin work. Colleagues said Perry typically sets aside Fridays for buying gold from customers.

But court documents allege Brett Newman, 31, of Huntington, whom police were still seeking Friday night, devised another strategy. Criminal complaints state he orchestrated a conspiracy to rob Perry at gunpoint and split the spoils with alleged co-conspirators Romel Lee Green, 20, and Tiffany Brook Whittenburg, 33, also of Huntington.
