Police investigating 2nd shooting in two days
HUNTINGTON — For the second time in as many days, Huntington Police Officers found themselves on a scene of a shooting in which multiple people were injured Wednesday night.
The shooting took place along Jefferson Avenue between West 17th and 18th Streets just before 7:40 p.m. Wednesday.
Several neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots, and three people were taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital said Sgt. Kendra Beckett. Detectives on the scene said at least two of the victims had non-life threatening injuries, but the status of the third victim was unclear Wednesday night.
Early reports indicated the incident was a drive-by shooting, but Beckett said there was no evidence to indicate that was the case. There were no suspects Wednesday night, and K9 units had been called to the scene.
Wednesday’s shooting came 32 hours after another shooting left 22-year-old Darrell Fugua of Detroit dead and two people, Thomas White, 21, of Huntington, and Devante Penn, a 17-year-old boy from Detroit, critically injured.
Rocky Hudson Williams, 19, of Huntington was charged with murder in connection to the shooting.
