Armed robbery leads to chase
HUNTINGTON -- Several local law enforcement agencies spent several hours searching for man accused of robbing the Marathon station at 8th Street and 5th Avenue just after 10 a.m. Monday.
Cabell County 911 dispatchers reported the man was armed with a handgun. No one at the service station was hurt, and it's unknown if the suspect got away with any money.
A chase ensued through Huntington, leading Huntington Police officers to various parts of town, including 8th Street near Ritter Park and 5th Street Road at reported speeds of 40 to 60 miles per hour.
Additional law enforcement agencies were called in as the suspect traveled in a white Toyota Corolla into Wayne County toward Lavalette, according to dispatch. That included Cabell County Sheriff's Department, Wayne County Sheriff's Department and West Virginia State Police.
Within an hour, officials were on foot searching an area of Camp Creek Road near the Cabell/Wayne line.
Calls to the West Virginia State Police and Wayne County Sheriff's Office were referred to the Huntington Police Department.
