HUNTINGTON -- Despite Saturday's dreary weather conditions, things were sunny indoors at the Huntington Museum of Art for artists young and old.

The weekly Saturday KidsArt festivities offer children in kindergarten through fifth grade, as well as parents, seniors and anyone who chooses to attend, an art lesson and project. Saturday's venture was printmaking, according to teacher Ashley Browning.

"We say the class is for kindergarten through fifth grade, but we can modify the project for any age from five months old to 95," Browning said. "Last week we had 29 people, but two weeks ago we had 57. We have three studios we can open up if necessary, so everyone is welcome."

Last week's project involved a collage cityscape. The program is free and offers children the opportunity to join the KidsArt Club. After attending just five sessions, children receive a membership card, free museum admission for themselves and an adult, and other perks.

"We want this to become a family event," said Browning, who was assisted Saturday by teachers Eva Cox and Zoe Myers. "The main goal is to have fun and educate the area in the arts, but mostly to have fun because I believe you can't learn unless you're having fun."
