Jan. 10, 2013 @ 12:00 AM

The following information was provided by reports filed with the Huntington Police Department:

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: Christopher Lawrence Smith, 22, of Huntington was charged with two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, felony driving with a suspended or revoked license, third offense, and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance in connection with an incident earlier this week.

Officers were involved in a traffic stop Tuesday in the 1100 block of 9th Avenue. During the stop, an off-duty officer approached the scene and informed officers a suspicious person was sitting in a vehicle parked on private property, watching the stop.

The officer approached the vehicle, and the driver of the vehicle said he wanted to see what was going on at the stop. A background check on the driver showed he had two prior convictions for driving with a suspended or revoked license for driving under the influence. When the officer approached the vehicle a second time, he noticed a baggie containing "several blue pills" in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded .6 grams of marijuana and $330 in prescription medication, for which the driver did not have a valid prescription.

Smith is housed in the Western Regional Jail on a $65,000 bond.

BREAKING AND ENTERING (AUTO): A 23-year-old man reported someone entered his vehicle while it was parked in Kirk Place the evening of Jan. 5 and took a gun worth $600.

GRAND LARCENY: A 68-year-old man reported someone took a $1,700 ring from his residence in the 1200 block of 26th Street on Tuesday. Police have a suspect.

The following information was provided by booking records at the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville:

Mindy Catherine Edwards, 35, was incarcerated Tuesday. Authorities in Cabell County charged her with a felony warrant for failure to appear, along with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and multiple counts of trespassing. Bond was denied.
