The following information was provided by reports filed with the Huntington Police Department:

LARCENY: A 33-year-old man reported someone stole a UPS package that was delivered to his home in the 2900 block of Merrill Avenue on Jan. 11. He said the package contained a Kindle Fire worth $200.

The man said he reported the item missing to Amazon.com, and a customer service representative told him the item had been registered to a woman in Proctorville, Ohio, and the mailing address was for a business in Huntington.

Officers contacted the woman, who said her husband purchased the item from a friend, and she told police she would give the Kindle to officers at police headquarters.

The incident remains under investigation.

An officer on patrol in the 1100 block of 10th Avenue at 12:44 a.m. Wednesday observed a vehicle back up toward a woman, nearly striking her. The driver's side door of the vehicle opened, and the vehicle "quickly pulled forward again" before leaving the area.
