One injured in I-64 crash Monday
BARBOURSVILLE -- Traffic was snarled along I-64 and U.S. 60 late Monday afternoon after a crash caused by slick road conditions.
The accident was reported to emergency responders at about 2:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-64 near mile marker 19, between the Merritts Creek and West Mall Road exits.
The crash happened when a tractor trailer came upon slower traffic and the driver attempted to slow down, said Barboursville Police Officer B.A. Copley. The driver was unable to slow the vehicle enough, and the tractor trailer set off a chain reaction of crashes, involving three other vehicles.
One man was taken to a local hospital.
Both of the eastbound lanes of the interstate were closed until about 5 p.m. while crews cleared the scene.
