Area schools to host College Goal Sunday
HUNTINGTON -- Several locations in the Tri-State will host College Goal Sunday on Feb. 9, including Marshall University and Ohio University Southern.
College Goal Sunday is an event to help high school students and their families fill out and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA. Representatives will be on hand from 1 to 4 p.m. Pre-registration is recommended but not required.
Students who complete a FAFSA will be entered to win an iPad and other door prizes. Refreshments will be provided.
College Goal Sunday is a nationwide program staffed by financial aid professionals from colleges and universities along with other volunteers to help college-bound students and their families complete the FAFSA. The form is required for any student seeking federal and state financial aid, including grants and loans at all colleges in the country.
Area locations include Corbly Hall at Marshall in Huntington and the Marshall University Mid-Ohio Valley Center in Point Pleasant; the Putnam County Career and Technical Center in Eleanor; Lincoln County High School in Hamlin; University of Rio Grande Bob Evans Farm Hall, Rio Grande, Ohio; Ohio University Southern, Ironton, Ohio.

The College Goal Sunday program was created by the Indiana Student Financial Aid Association with funding from Lilly Endowment, Inc., and with supplemental support from Lumina Foundation for Education. College Goal Sunday events are being held in 37 states and the District of Columbia.
