More than 1,000 students from 66 high schools throughout Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia were nominated to participate in the event, and the 400 who were selected were sorted into three honor bands: The John Marshall Band, the Thundering Herd Band and the Marco's Marauders Band.
Marshall music faculty members will teach master classes for the high school students during the festival, which culminates with three concerts at Smith Music Hall beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, each showcasing a different honor band.
The concerts are free and open to the public.
