Two men indicted on child porn charges

Mar. 06, 2013 @ 11:30 PM

HUNTINGTON -- Two men from Cabell County are facing federal charges in relation to separate, unrelated investigations involving child pornography.

Authorities identified those charged as Raymond Eugene Leake, 34, of Huntington, and Charles D. Cunningham, 39, of Milton, according to the indictments and a press release issued by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Leake's four-count indictment involves sexual coercion of a juvenile, along with separate counts of receiving, possessing and distributing child pornography.

The alleged coercion occurred from Dec. 24, 2012, to Jan. 13. That's consistent with earlier comments linking the case to a series of sexually explicit Internet chats between a local man and what he thought was an adult woman, 35, and her daughter, 10.

Huntington Police Sgt. Chuck Kingery, in January, said those female participants turned out to be an undercover agent working out of state. It led to a search warrant that revealed at least 800 photographs at a home along Monroe Avenue. Each image involved children and either pornographic or sexually suggestive content.

The indictment specifically charges Leake with receiving child pornography on Jan. 10. It further charges he possessed and distributed the material days later, Jan. 13.

The separate, unrelated indictment charged Cunningham with single counts of distributing and possessing child pornography. Those crimes occurred at different times in 2009 at a location in Milton. The possession charge contained both images and videos.

No further information was released about Cunningham's case.

The court has set Cunningham's initial appearance and arraignment for March 14.

No such date was set in Leake's case as U.S. Magistrate Judge Mary E. Stanley issued a bench warrant for his arrest.
