Annual program honors work of local women

HUNTINGTON -- More than 100 women came together Wednesday to honor the achievements of area women during the past year at Marshall University's Women of Color program.

The event, which took place at the Memorial Student Center on campus, had the theme "Building Leadership: Community to Politics."

The keynote speaker of the event was Brandi Jacobs-Jones, director of administration and finance for the City of Huntington. Jacobs-Jones is a Marshall graduate and former president of the Student Government Association on campus.

She also is a former recipient of the Women of Color award. The 2013 awards were presented during the event.

The Women of Color Celebration was held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Marshall University.
