Spaghetti dinner raises money for city police officers' wives
HUNTINGTON -- City police officers served hundreds of plates of spaghetti Monday afternoon and evening to support families of two colleagues.
As of 4 p.m. Monday, Huntington Police Patrolman Mark Parsons estimates they had served 900 plates, including more than 700 deliveries to places in Huntington, Barboursville and Proctorville, Ohio.
Parsons estimated the total amount raised at $5,000. That will go to support the wives of two officers. One is battling breast cancer and the other potential brain cancer.
The event was organized by the Fraternal Order of Police Gold Star Lodge #65. For more information on the fundraiser, email FOPFUNDRAISER@HPDWV.com
