PARTY: Nonpartisan race

CITY: Barboursville

STATEMENT: "I have been involved in education for over 30 years, and I have gained extensive knowledge and experience which I would like to continue to use in serving the students of Cabell county. I promise to serve with fairness, objectivity, and integrity by gathering as much information as possible in making decisions recommended to the board by the superintendent. I am committed to having a nurturing and safe learning environment for all students to be successful."

QUESTION & ANSWER: Is there any board policy or position that needs changed to improve student achievement?

"Teachers need additional time to analyze state testing results of individual students in order to connect teaching strategies to student weaknesses. Also connecting state testing to graduation requirements will encourage students to put forth their best effort and encourage them to take advance courses."
