Police blotter: Another purse snatching reported at U.S. 60 Wal-Mart parking lot

The following information was provided by the Cabell County Sheriff's Office:

A 52-year-old Huntington woman was the victim of a purse snatching while unloading groceries in the parking lot of the U.S. 60 Wal-Mart in Huntington. The incident was reported to have taken place at 9:47 p.m. Sunday. In the victim's statement, she said was unloading groceries into her trunk when a woman walked up behind her, took her purse and left the scene in a white four-door vehicle. The purse contained $140 in cash. Wal-Mart surveillance provided deputies with footage of the suspect's vehicle.

BURGLARY/BREAKING AND ENTERING: Police arrested two people after a traffic stop on 4-H Camp Road early Saturday morning.

Natasha Katie Adkins, 32, and Erick John Adkins, 31, of Barboursville were charged with felony counts of burglary. They were transported to Western Regional Jail, where they remain held on $25,000 bond each.

Police confiscated a ring, $2 bills and their $1,245 worth of jewelry from a robbery report earlier in the evening.

Two children were in the back seat of the stopped vehicle. Child Protective Services was contacted, and the children were placed with family members.

FUGITIVE: Amanda Darlene Conley, 25, of Huntington, was arrested Friday evening by Cabell County sheriff's deputies and members of the U.S. Marshal C.U.F.F.E.D. Task Force after executing an arrest warrant out of Mercer County.

The arrest came after reports that a fugitive was staying with a man on federal probation at a residence in the 900 block of 4th Avenue.

Police confiscated two large bags of what appeared to be marijuana, along with empty plastic baggies and scales after executing a search warrant at the residence.

Conley was arrested on the Mercer County warrant and also charged with possession with intent, possession of a controlled substance and probation violation. Authorities also learned that Conley was a fugitive from justice out of Virginia. She was transported to Western Regional Jail, where she remains held without bond.

Authorities also have an active arrest warrant for Nicholas Ryan Chapman, 30, of Huntington on a felony charge of possession with intent. His arrest is still pending.

BURGLARY: A husband and wife, who live in the 6600 block of Blue Sulphur Road in Ona reported that they arrived home around 5 p.m. Friday to find that someone had broken out the glass in the doors in order to gain entry to the residence. Reported stolen were a revolver, laptop, various jewelry and a five-gallon jug filled with change. In addition to the broken windows, the loss is estimated at more than $5,500.

LARCENY: A 45-year-old Milton woman reported on March 11 that she believed a family member has stolen her $6,000 gold wedding band. She found a receipt from Classic Pawn and Loan at her house that had the same description of her wedding ring on it. Police have a suspect.

The following information was provided by the Huntington Police Department:

A 40-year-old Ashland man said he was attacked by two men near his residence in the 1800 block of 9th Avenue around 2 p.m. Friday.

The suspects took $200 in cash from the victim's pocket. A woman came to help, who was also hit.

GRAND LARCENY: An employee of NAPA Auto Parts, 2931 5th Ave., reported that a man came into the store around 2:20 p.m. Friday and grabbed a $1,400 welder and walked out.

POSSESSION WITH INTENT: Police arrested a man after a traffic stop in the 1800 block of 10th Avenue around 4:45 p.m. Sunday.

The car was reported stolen and police confiscated crack cocaine, two digital scales and a roll of $20 bills. Another two baggies of cocaine were confiscated at the Western Regional Jail.

Brandon Quane Hudson, 25, of Macon, Ga., was charged with receiving and transferring stolen property and possession with intent to deliver. He is still being held in Western Regional Jail on the two felony charges.

ROBBERY: A 38-year-old woman reported that while walking in the 1800 block of 9th Avenue around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, a man approached and struck her several times. The suspect took off with her purse, which contained about $1,000 in gift cards.

The following information was provided by the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville:

Alexander Eugene Shelton, 28, was incarcerated at 10:35 p.m. Sunday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with being a fugitive from justice. Bond was denied.

Valerie Lynn Johnson, 36, was incarcerated at 10 p.m. Sunday. Authorities in Lincoln County charged her with felony child neglect with injury and misdemeanor obstruction. Bond was denied pending arraignment.
