November 25, 2009 @ 12:00 AM

HUNTINGTON -- A 46-year-old man is accused of choking his ex-wife to the point of unconsciousness and holding her against her will, according to a criminal complaint filed in Cabell County Magistrate Court.

Paul Samuel Combs of Huntington was charged with felony kidnapping, along with misdemeanor domestic battery and obstruction. He was incarcerated on a $57,000 bond.

The kidnapping complaint states officers arrived at Combs' apartment Monday in reference to his ex-wife being held against her will. They knocked on the door several times, but received no response.

The complaint states they used a key provided to the Huntington Fire Department to gain entry. They found the suspect awake and laying on a sofa.

"The victim was found on the floor of the residence in a distraught state," the kidnapping complaint states.

Paul Combs took the victim's cell phone to hold his ex-wife against her will. He would choke her when she tried to leave, the kidnapping complaint states.

The apartment is located in the 800 block of 7th Street.
