Firefighters promoted at ceremony

Mar. 28, 2013 @ 10:54 PM

HUNTINGTON -- Three Huntington firefighters were promoted during a ceremony Thursday afternoon at Huntington City Hall.

The men, all of whom are stationed at Centennial Station No. 1 in the 800 block of 7th Avenue, were promoted after a vacancy occurred in the captain's ranking, said Huntington Fire Chief Carl Eastham.

Rodney Wrent was promoted from lieutenant to captain, and Pvts. Mat Winters and John Nicholas II each were promoted to lieutenant.

"All three individuals are dedicated to their service and to protecting the citizens of Huntington, and they are dedicated to gaining all of the experience and knowledge they can to help them do those things," said Eastham. "These promotions always are an important milestone in their careers, and we want to make sure we note to their families, friends and the public, so everyone knows the efforts they put forth to gain knowledge and skills to put to use in their new ranks."
