Police blotter: Man reports guns, cash, other items stolen from residence
The following information was provided by the Cabell County Sheriff's Office:
BURGLARY, BREAKING AND ENTERING: A 44-year-old man reported that someone entered his residence along Swan Drive in Milton and took $1,850 in guns, $1,800 in cash, $1,000 in jewelry, $300 in pocket knives, a digital camera worth $200 and a lock box worth $50 on Thursday evening.
FALSE PRETENSES: An employee at Fas Chek in the 5600 block of W.Va. 10 in Salt Rock reported that someone wrote more than $450 in personal checks belonging to someone who is deceased between August 17 and 22. Police have a suspect.
BURGLARY, BREAKING AND ENTERING: A 28-year-old woman reported that someone took more than $2,400 in electronics and clothing from her residence in the 3500 block of Norwood Road sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning while she was in the process of moving.
THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE: A 65-year-old man reported that someone took a brand new television from his vehicle while he was eating at a restaurant near the Huntington Mall on Thursday evening. The television was worth $1,147, and the vehicle sustained $400 in damages.
The following information was provided by the Huntington Police Department:
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: A 20-year-old man reported that someone broke both winshields of his vehicle and damaged the top of the vehicle while it was parked in the 300 block of 32nd Street just after midnight Thursday. The victim reported that there were footprints on the back hatch and top of the vehicle, which sustained $1,000 in damages.
LARCENY: A 79-year-old man reported that someone took a copper downspout from the front of his residence in the 300 block of North Boulevard sometime Wednesday night. The victim said it was the fourth time in the past year that the incident has occurred.
STOLEN PROPERTY: An employee with the U-Haul in the 1500 block of 9th Avenue reported that someone took two van trailers worth a total of $11,570 sometime between August 22 and 25.
POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: Celeste Kathleen Pierce, 31, of Huntington was arrested in relation to a Thursday evening incident in the 600 block of 4th street. Police noticed a group of people acting suspiciously and found a bindle of heroin worth $25 on one of the people in the group.
BURGLARY: A 48-year-old man reported that someone took four coffee cans containing $2,000 in change from his residence in the 1100 block of 10th Avenue sometime Monday night. Police have a suspect.
BATTERY, BRANDISHING, FLEEING: Alfonso Steele Madrid, 22, Huntington was arrested in relation to a Friday morning incident near a business in the 1400 block of 16th Street. A 21-year-old man reported that during a verbal altercation someone showed a knife and began to chase the victim, eventually tackling him and hitting him several times in the face, and fleeing when police arrived on scene. Police later caught up with the suspect.
The following information was provided by the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville:
Deandre Lenard Weems, 28, was incarcerated at 2:05 a.m. Friday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with being a fugitive from justice, felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and misdemeanor obstruction. Bond was $105,000, but the fugitive charge could block any release.
Curtina Sheppard, 37, was incarcerated at 2 a.m. Friday. Authorities in Lincoln County charged her with felony conspiracy, child abuse with injury by parent or guardian and operation or attempting to operate a clandestine drug lab, along with two counts of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance. Bond was denied pending arraignment.
David Harold Sheppard, 42, was incarcerated at 1:55 a.m. Friday. Authorities in Lincoln County charged him with felony conspiracy, illegal possession of a firearm, child abuse with injury by parent or guardian and operation or attempting to operate a clandestine drug lab, along with two counts of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance. Bond was denied pending arraignment.
Lonnie Taylor, 55, was incarcerated at 12:15 a.m. Friday. Authorities in Wayne County charged him with felony malicious wounding. Bond was denied pending arraignment.
