Maryland man reports $4,000 in cash, fishing equipment stolen locally
The following information was provided by reports filed by the Barboursville Police Department:
GRAND LARCENY: A 39-year-old Maryland man reported his wallet and fishing equipment may have been stolen in the Barboursville area.
The man said he stopped by a local restaurant around 7 p.m. Jan. 26 where someone possibly stole his wallet containing $440 cash as well as $3,760 worth of fishing equipment from a container on top of his truck.
He said he is unsure if the theft occurred in Barboursville because he didn't notice the items were missing until he reached his destination. However, he said an unknown person mailed his wallet back to him without the cash on Jan. 30 and the postmark was from Barboursville.
SHOPLIFTING: Kohl's reported a 27-year-old Grayson, Ky., man and a 36-year-old Grayson, Ky., woman shoplifted two pairs of shoes valued at a total of $165 around 3 p.m. Sunday. The man fled, but was caught in the parking lot. The woman was stopped by the exit. Both were cited with shoplifting and released.
Kohl's reported a 26-year-old Dunbar, W.Va., woman shoplifted a scarf and earrings valued at $44 around 7:45 p.m. Jan. 29. She was charged with first-offense shoplifting and transported to the magistrate's office to be arraigned. On Dec. 18, 2013, the suspect was ordered not to trespass on Kohl's property.
Macy's reported a 19-year-old Mason, W.Va., man shoplifted a shirt, necklace and watch valued at a total of $300 around 4 p.m. Jan. 27. He was issued a shoplifting citation and released.
Macy's reported a 21-year-old Hurricane woman shoplifted $359 worth of children's clothing and shoes around 4:40 p.m. Jan. 28. She was charged with first-offense shoplifting and transported to the magistrate's office to be arraigned.
Target reported a 26-year-old Greenup, Ky., woman shoplifted $73 worth of clothing around 7:30 p.m. Jan. 26. She was charged with first-offense shoplifting and transported to the magistrate's office to be arraigned.
Target reported a 25-year-old Huntington woman removed a $63 queen comforter from the store shelf and attempted to return it for money or a gift card around 2:45 p.m. Jan. 29. She was cited for shoplifting and released.
