Health department to conduct threat preparedness event
HUNTINGTON -- A threat preparedness event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Cabell-Huntington Health Department, 703 7th Ave.
The Cabell-Huntington and Wayne health departments are hosting the family event, which will include information and activities for kids.
The event will include demonstrations on how to protect people from natural disasters and interactive displays from the Huntington Police Department, Cabell County EMS, Huntington Fire Department, Ham Radio Operators, and the Cabell-Wayne Medical Reserve Corps. Drug dogs also will be at the event, and car seat checks will be available.
A special kids corner will include search and rescue dogs, fire trucks, fingerprinting, disaster relief, balloon art, face painting and inflatables.
The event is also a precursor to National Threat Preparedness month in September to raise awareness on how to protect people in case of pandemic flu, natural disasters and emergencies.
