Police Blotter: Several dirt bikes stolen from Wildcat Powersports

The following information was provided by the Cabell County Sheriff's Office:

Wildcat Powersports, located in the 4700 block of U.S. 60, was burglarized sometime between 6 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. Saturday. The report states that several dirt bikes were taken by someone who threw a rock through the front window. The owner, Richard Merritt, reported that at least 11 Apollo dirt bikes and one Yamaha were stolen. When reached Monday, he said that up to 10 helmets and some other accessories also were missing. Though the business had surveillance, Merritt said it did not reveal any details on the suspect. The estimated loss is more than $10,000.

BURGLARY, BREAKING AND ENTERING: A Branchland, W.Va., man was arrested less than an hour after a break-in at a home in the 4100 block of Blue Sulphur Road in Ona on the morning of Dec. 16.

The report states that Scottie Lee Clay, 33, of Branchland was stopped at 11:05 a.m. on Frances Branch Road in connection with an attempted burglary. He is charged with a felony count of daytime burglary and misdemeanor counts for driving on a suspended license and possession of a controlled substance. Clay is being held at the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville.

Police confiscated items that were reported stolen from the residence on Blue Sulphur Road.

The items include a $1,200 40-inch television, a $500 digital camera, a $50 collector coin and $20 in prescription pills.

The following information was provided by the Huntington Police Department:

An 18-year-old was shot in the lower left leg around 10:20 p.m. Saturday while walking in the 500 block of Buffington Street. He transported himself to St. Mary's Medical Center. He told police that a brown sedan pulled up and someone reached out and fired one shot.

FIRST-DEGREE ROBBERY: A 37-year-old man was robbed outside of Cabell Huntington Hospital around 8:25 p.m. Saturday. The report states the victim was outside the hospital and approached by an acquaintance from the jail. The suspect punched him in the mouth and took $600 in cash. The victim chased the suspect down Franklin Avenue, where the two scuffled. The suspect then threatened the man with a gun.

BREAKING AND ENTERING: PI Tudor Roofing, located in the 300 block of 4th Avenue, was broken into sometime between noon and 12:30 p.m. Saturday. A neighbor told police he saw someone loading items into a green pickup truck, but thought it was an employee. Reported stolen were three laptops, two televisions and a color printer and a digital camera. The value of the items was estimated at more than $3,500.

BURGLARY: A 38-year-old man reported that his residence in the 500 block of Tiernan Street was broken into sometime between 5 p.m. Dec. 14 and 3:40 p.m. Dec. 18. The report states a rear window was broken and several items were taken, including two plasma televisions, a DVD player, surround sound system, a wall mount for a television, three sections of granite countertop, three ceiling fans, 20 sheets of plywood and a box of breakers. The loss is estimated at more than $3,400.

BURGLARY: A 41-year-old woman reported that someone pried open a sliding door to her residence in the 500 block of Jefferson Road between 12:20 and 3:49 p.m. Dec. 18 and ransacked the house. Items listed as stolen were a laptop, two digital cameras, a video game system, pistol, three rings and a gold necklace. The loss is estimated at more than $4,000.

The following information was provided by the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville:

Dwight Marvin Edwards, 40, was incarcerated at 1:20 a.m. Monday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with felony firearm possession, along with misdemeanor brandishing, fleeing on foot, obstruction and carrying a concealed weapon without a license. Bond was denied pending arraignment.

Robert Alan Wilson, 36, was incarcerated at 12:45 a.m. Monday. Authorities in Wayne County charged him with felony third-offense domestic battery and misdemeanor domestic assault. Bond was denied pending arraignment.
