HUNTINGTON -- World War II veterans are invited to take a free bus trip to visit the World War II memorial in Washington, D.C., next week.
The group will depart at 7 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, from the VFW Post at 920 7th Ave., according to Scottie King, district commander.
King said the trip is a chance for World War II veterans who've never seen the memorial to see it.
"It's the least we can do for them," he said.
King said anyone interested in the trip should call him at 304-521-4489 by Monday.
The bus is scheduled to arrive in Washington, D.C., between 2 and 3 p.m., and veterans and their spouses will have three hours to spend touring the monuments.
An opportunity for photos with Sen. Jay Rockefeller and U.S. Rep. Nick J. Rahall may also be possible, according to King.
Meals will be provided at no cost during the trip, and will be paid for by the VFW. A private donor is paying for transportation.
A nurse will be on-board in case of any medical emergency. Veterans on oxygen may not ride the bus.
