Weeklong events continue as part of Civil War Days 20th anniversary
HUNTINGTON -- The Guyandotte Civil War Days 20th Anniversary has events all week-long leading up to the reenactments set for Nov. 7-8.
The Civil War Days lecture series takes place at 7 p.m. daily through Friday at the First Guyandotte Baptist Church, 219 Richmond St.
Refreshments will be served each night following the lectures.
The remaining schedule for the lecture series is:
Tuesday, Nov. 3: Robert Sawrey speaking about the aftermath of the Civil War
Wednesday, Nov. 4: Banjoist Travis Kahle performing 1860's music
Thursday Nov. 5: Al Stone portraying General Robert E. Lee along with John Belcher portraying General Albert G. Jenkins
Friday, Nov. 6: Stan Clardy of Statesville, N.C., performing a one-man Civil War play called, "Soldiers in Gray, A Musical Journey."
Some of the other highlights for the weekend include: The Huntington Paranormal Group will host historic Guyandotte walking tours from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Camps will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Other highlights will include Meet the Generals behind the Keenan House at 3 p.m. Saturday. Battles are set for 1 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
