ACTC to offer online certification, professional programs
Ashland Community and Technical College has partnered with Gatlin Education Services to offer online programs for professional skills and certifications. These programs provide the skills necessary to acquire professional level positions in many high-demand occupations.
GES provides online workforce development programs to colleges and universities throughout the world. GES programs can be started anytime and are self-paced with between 40 and 400 contact hours of training, depending on the selected course. Some courses can be completed in as little as 90 days.
Some of the programs offer online certification, help prepare people for industry certification exams and provide continuing education credit recognized by professional organizations. A growing number of programs include externship opportunities with major companies.
"Online programs remove the barriers of time and place that can prevent working adults or those with family commitments from getting the education they need for advancement," said Karen Coburn, coordinator of Lifelong Learning.
All courses are open enrollment and include everything students need, including textbooks.
Pricing is based on the number of hours to complete the program, and financial assistance is available through GES. Some students may be eligible for federal Lifetime Learning Credits which provide tax credit for courses taken to acquire or improve job skills.
