Police blotter: Mother reports son missing to Huntington police

Reports from the Huntington Police Department provided the following information:

A 60-year-old woman from Redford, Mich., reported to Huntington Police that she has not heard from her son since Thursday.

The son was identified as David T. Callahan. Callahan, 31, lives in the 500 block of Wilson Place in Huntington. He was described as a white male, about five-foot-eight-inches, 175 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

The woman said she attempted to call the her son Friday, but his cell phone was out of service. She said he had two places of employment but found out he no longer works at either place.

Police checked his residence, but did not find him.

The woman said her son suffers from depression and is diabetic.

FUGITIVE FROM JUSTICE: Shannon Lee Odell, 36, of Huntington was arrested about 9:15 a.m. Monday in the 1500 block of Hal Greer Boulevard. She was charged with being a fugitive from justice.

STOLEN VEHICLE: A 32-year-old woman from South Point, Ohio, reported that someone stole her 2006 silver Dodge Grand Caravan about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of 8th Avenue.

Police have one suspect.

TRANSFERRING AND RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY: Herman Ray Dement, 29, of Huntington was arrested about 4:31 a.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of 21st Street. He was charged with transferring and receiving stolen property.

Police responded to the area after hearing reports of a man operating a truck with a heavy object in the trunk lid.

A dismantled motor was found in the truck that belonged to Magnatech, 1029 7th Ave. Police discovered a fence had been cut open at Magnatech and that the motor was missing from the fenced area.

Reports from the Cabell County Sheriff's Office provided the following information:

A 46-year-old woman from Ona reported that her father has been missing since Tuesday.

The victim was identified as Herbert Elkins. He was last seen about 5 p.m. Tuesday in the 3100 block of Howells Mill Road in Ona. He was described as a white male, about five-foot-seven-inches, 155 pounds with white hair and brown eyes.

The woman said the he was wearing a red flannel shirt and blue jeans. She said he has Alzheimer's.

Reports from the Western Regional Jail's booking records provided the following information:

Joseph Leroy Taylor, 18, was incarcerated at 11:51 a.m. Tuesday. Authorities in Putnam County charged him with felony burglary. His bond was $2,500.

Hope Burton, 31, was incarcerated at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities in Cabell County charged her with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and third-offense shoplifting, along with misdemeanor trespassing. Her bond was $10,500.

Dustin Cody Cullip, 27, was incarcerated at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with being a fugitive from justice. He was being held without bond.
