Rally for Women in Recovery is today
HUNTINGTON -- A Rally for Women in Recovery will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Barnett Center, 1524 10th Ave. in Huntington.
The event will feature live music beginning at 2 p.m. Also scheduled are several public awareness events including Voices of Women in Recovery at 2:30 p.m. and a panel discussion called Women's Addictions Recovery Issues and Solutions (moderated by Dr. Cheri Lindberg) at 3:30 p.m.
Children's activities from 2 to 5 p.m. will feature face painting, crafts and games. Substance abuse prevention activities will be available for tweens (ages 10-12) and teens (ages 12-17). A spaghetti dinner will be from 5 to 6 p.m., and donations will be accepted .
The rally is sponsored by HER Place, a new non-profit organization dedicated to fostering hope, providing education and supporting recovery for women (and their children) who are suffering from alcohol and drug addition.
