Man accused of murdering baby
PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- A Scioto County man was charged this week in the death of a 10-month-old Wheelersburg, Ohio, baby, according to Sheriff Marty V. Donini.
The child was transported via helicopter to the Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus last month with several life-threatening injuries, including a skull fracture. The baby, Neylan Wilson, died at the Columbus hospital the following day, Nov. 20, according to a news release.
The baby had been living with his mother, Tierra Simeona, and her boyfriend, Brandon J. Wilson, 23, in the 1200 block of Rosemount Road in Rosemount, Ohio.
Authorities arrested Brandon Wilson on a charge of murder and lodged him in the Scioto County Jail without bond, according to the release.
Detectives went to the Columbus hospital to talk with witnesses and the medical staff last month. Among those interviewed was a 3-year-old child present at the Rosemount Road residence, according to the release.
During an investigation detectives learned that Simeona called 911 requesting a squad for her baby. Porter Township transported the baby to the Southern Ohio Medical Center before he was transported to the Columbus hospital, according to the release. An autopsy was performed at the Franklin County morgue.
Information was forwarded to detectives on Monday, according to the release.
Brandon Wilson was brought in for questioning and after consulting with the Scioto County prosecutor's office was arrested on the murder charge.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges could be presented to a Scioto County grand jury at a later date, according to the release.
