Snowshoe offers free ski day on Dec. 8

December 06, 2012 @ 12:00 AM

SNOWSHOE, W.Va. - Snowshoe Mountain Resort will have a free day of skiing for all West Virginia residents Saturday, Dec. 8.

All West Virginia residents with proof of residence (state issued ID, utility bill, etc.) can ski for free.

The resort's conditions are strong as nearly 28 inches of snow came to the resort from storms, solidifying the resort's earliest opening in 10 years.

The resort now has seven lifts and 21 trails open. Silver Creek will remain open on weekends only, until it's regularly scheduled opening of Dec. 14.

While Snowshoe Mountain and White Grass are already open, the rest of the resorts, Timberline, Canaan Valley, Winterplace and Oglebay, are looking to open at a normal time this year.

Timberline is set to open Dec. 13, while Winterplace is opening Friday, Dec. 14. Canaan Valley and Oglebay are set to open in mid December.
