Mark Parsons has joined Marine Corps
HUNTINGTON -- The Huntington Marine Corps Recruiting Station announced Mark Parsons recently joined the Marine Corps through the Delayed Entry Program.
Parsons, a senior at Lincoln County High School, will attend Marine Corps Recruit Training in Parris Island, S.C. He will undergo 13 weeks of training including instructions in first aid, general military subjects, physical fitness, Marine Corps history and weapons familiarization.
Upon successful completion of the training program, Parsons will return home for 10 days. From there he will attend one of 300 formal military occupational schools that he chooses. Parsons will also be given $100,000 in college tuition for volunteering for the Marine Corps.
